TMS’ KNOWLEDGE SHARING SERIES II/2014

   ISOLATION TECHNOLOGY

AN EXCLUSIVE INVITATION

Isolator systems are becoming increasingly important to the pharmaceutical and bio-‐medical industries. The improvement in product quality, the reduction of operating costs, the capability of longer production runs, and operators’ safety are significant advantages in comparison to conventional clean room production. The closed, aseptic works area in the isolator protects the drug against contamination by the operator and environment. When highly potent compounds are processed the operator is also protected against contamination by the product. Learn more about the emerging world of isolation technology at this upcoming seminar.

GUEST SPEAKER

Charles Daviau is an Application Manager with Getinge Isolation Technology business. He has an in-‐depth knowledge of containment in pharma and nuclear applications. He has been with La Calhène/ Getinge since 1996 and held various positions in engineering, project management and sales support. He is agraduate from Angers’ Technical University in France. La Calhène invented the DPTE rapid transfer port and sterility testing isolators; the company was acquired by Getinge in 2005. Getinge is a world leader in isolation technology.

   SYNOPSIS

Safe aseptic filling

Barrier sare increasingly being used in connection with aseptic filling, both to prevent product contamination and to protect operators. Modern filling lines increasingly incorporate full-‐barrier isolators or restricted-‐access barrier systems (RABS) to and from the filling equipment, in order to reduce therisk of product contamination and,in the case of potent drug compounds, to protect operators.

Sterility testing

Contamination of samples during mandatory sterility testing of parenteral and other sterile preparations/devices is a potentially costly problem. Getinge's ISOTEST series of sterility test isolators provides a safe and sterile self-‐contained environment for the most critical steps of the testing process: the opening of sample containers and testing process itself. This also reduces the need for maintenance of a sterile clean-‐room environment, reducing your overall costs even further.

Getinge offers barrier, isolators and state-‐of-‐the-‐art barrier transfer technologies.
